Over 25 years ago I began making a raw pet food because my cat “Bill”, (named for Bill the Cat” from the comic strip Bloom County), of 16 years was struggling with her health. Blood in her stool prompted a disappointing vet visit where I was left with no answers and a potential bill for over a thousand dollars. Cancer was suspected. I explained to the vet that at 16 she was more likely to pass with cancer and not from cancer!
It was years before the internet, so my research led me to various books by homeopathic vets and researchers that documented positive outcomes over many years confirming the benefit of a raw pet diet. One of these books is from an adrenal gland study from the 1930’s. So, left with no other reasonable choice for my beloved 16 year old cat, I followed various recipes. Bill had existed on various dried food for her whole life. Within two days on the new raw diet the blood was gone and her energy rebounded to a reasonable level for a 16 year old. She lived much healthier and symptom free until the inevitable.
About 6 months later, I went to the animal shelter and adopted the orange boy you see above. The photo is not photoshoped! Fang began his life on a raw diet. I honed the recipe over the course of years varying proteins, grains and supplements. Once a month I would purchase a raw cornish hen, part it out for about 6 meals bones and all which he would happily decimate like a lion in the field! Fang never had bad breath, tooth tarter, eye mucus or bowel issues. In fact, his stools were small due to more complete absorption and digestion of the nutrients presented in the raw diet. Fang lived a very healthy 19 years with No vet visits for any maladies.
FurBaby Fresh was born May 15th, 2018, and our Florida Department of Agriculture Feed Master Registration was obtained July 16th, 2018. Our intent is to provide a hand made, whole food raw pet diet at a reasonable cost. Our goal is NOT to become a factory producer of pet food. The food is made in small batches insuring good ingredient distribution throughout the product. We will never compromise that commitment of insuring a quality product.
